3D Mesh as Terrain

Hi

I need a workflow to create a accurate terrain model.

I know of the possibility to create a DTM in Pix4D, but this process “destroys” the nice and accurate 3D mesh that Pix4D produces.

I would like to have a 3D mesh with no “overhangs” (one elevation per coordinate).

Any suggestions?

Could this be a feature in Pix4D in the next future?

Thanks

Rainer

Hi Rainer,

The current workflow for 3D Textured Mesh generation of the Terrain is the following:

1.Edit the Point CLoud into Pix4Ddesktop  “Deleting” the overhangs:

How to edit the Point Cloud in the rayCloud

  1. Save the project

  2. Generate the 3D Textured Mesh:

The Deleted points will not be taken into account for the generation of the 3D Textured Mesh.

Best regards,

Christina

Christina’s recommendations is what I currently use for some projects, but I would love to use a mesh generated off of the DTM as well, even without a texture file.
