I have been having issues with the what I call a “death spiral” from reef mapping. I have adapted almost everything but I cannot figure out the setting issue. I have made other maps that fly nadir and on other computers this is not an issue with the same license.
Hi @pix4d31, overlap is one of the main parameters that will determine if your project will be successful or not. Sufficient frontal and side overlap is necessary, and going around an area on a single path will not include sufficient information for an accurate reconstruction.
If you could access the same area again, I recommend you capture two or even ideally three tracks of images, similar to what we explain about corridor mapping in this article.
When you capture the second and third path/track, do not forget to change the height of your camera so that it does not exactly follow the same path as the first track.
Meaning, you should capture images going in one direction, then change the height of the camera and walk back, the change the height of the camera again and walk back again. When changing height, ensure there is overlap with the previous track.
I hope it helps!
