Flying Aggregate Stockpiles Under Roof

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience flying covered stockpiles? Open bay with back wall and roof. There’s not much room to work with from nadir sense. I was curious if anyone had successfully modeled materials “indoors” or under a canopy.

Thanks!

HI tfite,

Indoor stockpiles can be difficult, but it is doable. You will have to manually fly the drone avoiding obstacles. Furthermore, because it is likely a GPS-denied environment, the images may not have geolocation and orientation image tags. As a result, the project may come out tilted or even inverted. You will likely need to add orientation and scale constraints.

You might want to consider our mobile scanning application called PIX4Dcatch. Depending on your project, it might be easier to scan the stockpile with your phone and then process the data in PIX4Dmapper or PIX4Dmatic.
