# Volume measurements from GPS points

Hi, I need to use GPS points to create a surface and calculate stockpiles volume. How can i do it in Pix4d?&nbsp;Thanks

Hi,

There is a detailed description of the workflow to measure volumes in Pix4D [here](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202560319).

It is also possible to import a SHP file including existing points (GPS positions for example) which will be used as base surface for the computation. Please read this [article](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/204836569-How-to-import-a-Volume-into-Volumes#gsc.tab=0)&nbsp;for more information. You would need to create the SHP file in beforehand.
