Hey,

I wanted some help. I have the following system configuration (i7-7980 XE, 128GB ram, 1 tb SSD, titan Xp). I am trying to generate a 3D model with 8086 images taken using the standard camera on multiple DJI Phantom 4 drones. I have my images loaded in Pix4D and i am running the 3D model present. Initial processing is set to full, Point Cloud and Mesh settings are - image scale = 1, point density = high, min matches = 3, Multiscale = off, i am not exporting point cloud, Mesh settings are: High resolution and im exporting Fbx.

My pix4D randomly crashes in the first step. I have set the RAM so that only 120 GB is used and have reduced core to 34 instead of 36. I have also disabled GPU.

Could you help me please with this. Let me know if you need any more info.

I also wanted to ask that i am processing a very large image dataset for my company next. They will be about 20 - 30 thousand images. We are creating a 3D model for an entire gold course. In order to do that we have ordered a new system with the following specs:

intel Xeon latest (dual cpu (20 cores 40 threads = 80 threads)

128 gb ECC memory

quadro P5000

2 x 2tb SSD

I wanted to know if this system is enough to process 20 - 30 K images. I dont mind it taking alot of time. I just dont want it to crash. Please help. Images will be fro DJI phantom 4 drones with standard camera.

Thanks in advance for the help. My company is planning to purchase a solution from you and i am currently running a trial version to test it for our use case.

Hi Ali,

Can I ask you to submit a request to Pix4D Support Team? We’ll investigate the issue which you’re experiencing and talk about your hardware resources for your next project. Don’t forget to send us the following:

- The project log file (text file): …\project\_name\project\_name.log
- The project file (.p4d): …\project\_name.p4d
- Machine specs:

1. Click the Windows Start icon and type System Information. Select the application in the list above.
2. In the application, click File \> Save… and export the content.
3. Attach the file your\_file.nfo to the reply.

_As a side note: Have you meant i9-7980?_

Generally, what we are advising in terms of processing large datasets is to:

- Reduce the processing options to process faster (generating less 3D points): How to change the [Processing Options to generate fewer 3D Points](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202560419)
- Divide the dataset into several sub-projects, process the subprojects separately and merge them: [How to split a project into subprojects](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/204217299-How-to-split-a-project-into-subprojects) and [Merging projects](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202558529-Merging-projects)

For example:

1. 8 subprojects will be resulting. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)
2. Afterward, you should process only step 1 in each of them.
3. Once the 8 subprojects are ready,
4. Merge 2 by 2.
5. Then 4 subprojects will be resulting, (a,b,c,d)
6. You can use 2 computers and on each merge 2 subprojects (a-b resulting **A** , c-d resulting **B** )
7. Then you will obtain A and B and use just one computer, merge them and process steps 2 and 3.

Thank you
