Process orthophotos using 1080 1/3 RGB CMOS sensor

I am curious to know if it would be possible to process orthophotos using this sensor,

My concerns lay around the image quality for stitching.

Hello Pedro,

CMOs cameras are supported by Pix4D.

By looking at the specifications, I would consider the following:

  • The focal length has to be the same all along the flight so, do not change the focus. Cameras which are made for photogrammetric applications do not allow to change it at all.

  • Do not let the camera to change the exposure time along the flight.

  • This camera seems to use a rolling shutter. I would recommend flying as slow as possible. There are a couple of articles which talks about the rolling shutter and how to correct it which may help you: Improved accuracy for rolling shutter cameras , How to correct the rolling shutter effect. The rolling shutter effect becomes significant when flying the drone fast or when flying at a low altitude. In these cases, it is recommended to use the rolling shutter algorithm that Pix4D has developed to acquire more accurate results.

Regards.
