On a recent project I spent considerable time editing the densified point cloud to improve the 3d mesh. I then exported and saved the point cloud, saved the project, closed and reopened and reprocessed from the menu option “generate 3d textured mesh” with my settings clicked for higher sample density divider and outputs (OBJ). I even had the point cloud un selected to ensure I wasn’t overwriting anything. Still the re generated 3d mesh did not apply any of my edits. I double checked and confirmed that the points deleted were set to the disabled group as another post noted. Is there a trick to ensure that my edits are applied? Also is it possible to load another mesh file? I saved a backup in case the reprocessing didn’t work but I cant get P4D Mapper to load the older mesh.

Hello @barrett.t.morse, To edit and clean the 3D textured mesh based on the edited point cloud, you need to follow the below steps carefully.

1. Process Step 1 and Step 2.
2. Clean the point cloud, and save the changes by clicking on **Project\> Save Project**.
3. On the Menu bar, click **Process \> Generate 3D Textured Mesh**.

Most people make a mistake by re-running step 2 again, which would reprocess everything, and no changes will be taken into account. You have to generate 3D texture mesh using the option available on the Menu bar.

1. Uncheck Step 1 and Step 2, and select Step 3 only to generate orthomosaic and DSM.

Subject: Questions about 3D Mesh and Point Cloud Alignment
Message:
Hello team,
I have a couple of questions that I need your advice on:

Is there a way to fix or correct a 3D mesh when it does not align properly with the point cloud?

How can I export the 3D mesh to a DXF file format?

Why does the generated surface not match correctly with the 3D mesh?

I would appreciate any suggestions or guidance on these issues.
Thank you,

Hello @soukthavykeovongsa, The 3D texture mesh doesn’t have geolocation information, so it might not align with the point cloud. If you are interested in importing a texture mesh with geolocation information, you can do it in some third-party software using the offset file. For more information visit, [How to visualize the 3D textured mesh with georeference](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/204606535)

In PIX4Dmapper, only the [.osgb and .slpk](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202558499?hsLang=en#label6) file formats are georeferenced. You can export those formats along with DXF following the steps explained in the below support article, [How to export the 3D textured mesh - PIX4Dmapper](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/212218463)
