# Orthophoto without DSM

After step 1 is it always necessary to always do step 2 even if I only need the orthophoto (step 3)?

Yes, the DSM is used to orthorectify the mosaic. I too wished for this however it became trivial to my workflow in the long run. Are you concerned with processing constraints / time? How many images are your projects?

Hi @aghirardi1 ,

It is not recommended to skip step 2.  
Technically, it is possible to process step _3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index_ without processing step 2. _Point Cloud and Mesh_ **but** it is not recommended as lower quality DSM and orthomosaic will be generated.
