# Measuring pasture cover with pic4d?

Has anyone managed to measure pasture and crop covers on pix fields or on the cloud? from research it looks like NDVI can measure covers upto 2200kgDm/ha but not over, can the clouds volume measurement be converted from m3 to kgs? or anyone know what the mesh is actually measuring?

Using a mavic 3m if of any help.

Hi Mark,

Using PIX4Dfields you will be able to obtain several indices with the bands of the M3M.

Pasture **covered area** can be quickly estimated with the Magic Tool that will tell the area covered by the pasture.

Another way would be creating a regression between what index you got on an area and what you see on the field in kgDm/ha.

Several papers also use temperature for this, but it’s more complicated.
