I’ve been having good results on creating an accurate point cloud, but my mosaics are horrible around powerlines and buildings. Is there a good article on how to fix these issues efficiently?

Hi James,

Long time! It’s been a while since seeing you in our Community. Welcome back!

May I ask if you have already had a chance to read on [How to improve the Orthomosaic](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001671066-How-to-improve-the-Outputs-of-Pix4Dmapper#label7)? It is in the article called [How to improve the Outputs of Pix4Dmapper](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001671066-How-to-improve-the-Outputs-of-Pix4Dmapper?source=search)?

The orthomosaic receives as input the DSM and the position of the original image. If the [DSM is noisy](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001671066#label6) or the reconstruction is not optimal, the orthomosaic will be distorted. Make sure that the results of the step1 and the DSM are optimal before you generate the Orthomosaic. If the Orthomosaic still contains artifacts, it is possible to edit it in the Mosaic Editor:

- If there are **moving cars** in the scene, they will appear with transparency in many positions of the orthomosaic. This effect is called the Ghost effect. To improve the orthomosaic, it is possible to edit it in the Mosaic Editor, draw a region around the car, and select an image in which the car does not appear.

How to edit the Orthomosaic in the Mosaic Editor: [How to edit the Orthomosaic](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202560079#gsc.tab=0).

- If **buildings or dense vegetation** areas are distorted, it is possible to improve the visual aspect of the orthomosaic by selecting the planar projection for the distorted areas.

How to improve the visual aspect of buildings in the Mosaic Editor: [How to improve the Visual Aspect of Buildings in the Orthomosaic with the Mosaic Editor](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202559939#gsc.tab=0).

It would also be helpful for us and our peers to have a look at a quality report to gain more understanding of your project if that is comfortable with you. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions here.

I hope to see you more in our Community. 🙂

Sincerely,
Rosana

I’ve read them and I think I understand them. I’ve attached a Quality Report.

Hi James,

Thank you for sharing the quality report.

Let me know if you still have questions about improving Orthomosaic that I can calrify for you.

On another note, based on the _Microsoft Remote Display Adapter (Driver: unknown)_ shown in the quality report as the GPU, may I ask if you were accessing PIX4Dmapper remotely?
If this is not the case, please don’t mind me.

If this is the case, just a friendly reminder that we do not test PIX4Dmapper for remote access, and we do not officially support it. The processing may be successful, yet most probably, the rayCloud will not display properly due to the OpenGL error. If you ever counter this kind of problem, the solution to this problem was described in the [Error e0094: It was not possible to initialize OpenGL](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202561189) article.

You can find information on remote access in this article: [macOS / Windows XP / Linux / Remote access / Parallel processing](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202556809-macOS-Windows-XP-Linux-Remote-access-Parallel-processing?source=search)

Sincerely,
Rosana

We do use the Windows Remote Desktop to access a more powerful computer from our office, but I have not noticed any visual errors. Could there be some that I just haven’t noticed? My biggest problem is the speed to create the regions and update the DSM & Mosaic. It seems like my computer takes quite a bit of time to handle that procedure.

Hi James,

If the software is installed in a local machine and you are accessing it remotely to run everything on that local machine, it shall be fine.

In regards to the speed problem, have you tried creating a process area? Because drawing a processing area can help increase the processing speed of step _2. Point Cloud and Mesh_ and step _3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index_.
[How to use a processing area in Pix4Dmapper](https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202560179-How-to-use-a-processing-area-in-Pix4Dmapper)

On the other hand, step 3. DSM and Mosaic heavily rely on the RAM and the speed of the hard disk. In fact, the speed of the hard disk defines the processing speed.

Feel free to have a look on how PIX4Dmapper’s usage on different hardware components at each step.

Rosana
