I am trying the GCP/MTP Manager for the first time to enter some GCPs. However when I go to enter the LAT/LON (X/Y) coords it only shows three digits of precision. I measured the GCPs with CM level accuracy so I need a lot more decimals than that! This can’t be right?

Hi Jeff,

The coordinate system in the software with X, Y, Z is in meters. Therefore, only 3 decimal digits are allowed and taken into consideration because we cannot reach a precision higher than 1 mm.

Could it be that your measurements are not X, Y but rather Latitude, Longitude coordinates?
In this case, you should instead select WGS 84 for the GCP reference system

Hello,
I experience the same problem even if I change the reference system to WGS 84.
I tried several times and one time the coordinates appeared with six digits precision as it is supposed to but now when I try again I end up with only three digits. Maybe it is a bug?
Regards

Hi @jehammar Can you share 7-10 images of your dataset through google drive?

Hi Momtanu,
it is a text file in the format Site, Latitude, Longitude and Height with the GCP which I would like to upload in the GCP manager. The Latitude and Longitude originally have six digits but end up with three after I upload them.
Regards

@jehammar We would like to reproduce the issue or at least understand why the number of digits after the decimal is changing. It would be good to have 5-10 images since we would need at least 5 images to start a Pix4D project and also the GCP file. Since you have latitude, longitude in degrees, are you selecting WGS84 as the coordinate system? Can you send us a screenshot? Change to WGS84 first and then import the txt file.

This is still an issue. In terms of XYZ three digits is enough as the third digit represents mm which as you stated an acceptable limitation of accuracy.

However when selecting WGS84 and importing Lat/Long/H the software still only displays three digits to the right of the decimal.

While this is still ok for the Z (Altitude [m]) as three digits to the right of the decimal which is still an acceptable limitation of accuracy for the display of Altitude [m], the Latitude [degree] and Longitude [degree] has only three digits as well which is a problem.

In terms of Lat/Long coordinates 7 digits are typically required to store coordinates with centimeter [cm] accuracy and 8 digits to store coordinates with millimeter [mm] accuracy.

@philjahns, as you mention, eight digits are required for surveying applications when using geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude) and Pix4D takes this into account.

I believe that the issue you pointed out is related to the fact the GCP/MTP manager dialog does not update the UI right after you adjust the coordinate system. If you close and open the dialog once more, everything should be in order, and you will be able to see all the digits.

Let me know if this not the case and the issue is still there after reopening the dialog,
