Creating a Tree Canopy Profile

Hi!

I’ve been heading up my companies efforts as we move into more remote sensing and have been creating pretty standard Topographic surveys using drone LiDAR and photogrammetry. A recent proposal is requesting a “Tree Canopy Profile” of nearby forested areas to the site. I was wondering about the best way to go about that. My thought process would be to create a separate file where I would turn the canopy into “Terrain” then create a TIN and contour package similar to the ground, but perhaps there’s a less convoluted way.

Thanks

The best way is to simply use the Digital Surface Model which is a primary output from Mapper or Matic. After you create the DSM I would then bring it into either QGIS or ArcGIS which you can then create a terrain profile.
