 How do account for an object over the coal pile like this? I have a chance to do a demo soon and it will have something like this over the coal pile. Will it effect the volume measurement?   ---

You will be able to edit the point cloud and delete the points that are for the conveyor.  I use the 3d view and pan around to side view where the conveyor only has sky as background. Then I select the points and delete them.  I only need to remove the points that are over the pile. ---

Get yourself Global mapper, it does classification very well.
